The theme “Turning green to Gold” carried the first annual NETFUND Green Innovations Award (GIA) Expo and Exhibition on Thursday, May 19 2016 at the Kenya International Convention Centre, Nairobi. The Expo, which aimed to showcase innovative green projects, attracted more than 600 people, including members of the public, volunteers, exhibitors, government officials, industry partners, technology specialists and academic experts.

The main aim of the EXPO was to showcase and sensitize the public on green products, technologies and innovation,showcase green products and innovations to potential markets, customers and investors and assess the impact of innovators’ products in the market.

The event revolved around four thematic areas: Water, Energy, Agribusiness and Energy. The water category hosted four innovations that revolved around sustainable water conservation, utilization and management. Agribusiness category attracted 13 locally fabricated innovations ranging from sustainable production, value addition, and consumption of agricultural produce. Waste management category had seven innovations focusing on recycling while Energy category had sixteen innovations ranging from solar and bio fuel products, to energy efficient cook stoves.
